Hopeful New Year
As the back half of the season gets underway, two of our youth sides head their respective tables, and at least four others are in the promotion picture. Our adult sides are starting to come right after uncertain starts to the season, with the Fifths enjoying last 16 runs in two Cup competitions. See the Latest page for all the week’s results and the details of times and venues of the coming weekend’s games.

And let’s not forget the Veterans - nine wins so far, with just four losses and three draws.

Adult training is on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.

Our new younger teams continue to show the way. U11 Youth have a 100% record and are way out in front in their division.  U13 Colts are top of their division and U10s, U12s, U13 Youth and U15s are also going well.

There are still opportunities to join youth and especially adult squads.  You can email us at info@kewafc.co.uk or get in touch with Stuart Whitwell for adults or Martin Clark for youth sides - their details on our Contacts page. Our Under 14s in particular are looking for extra players, please contact Tim Birch via email: trb1999@googlemail.com.

Little League Bantams takes place Saturday morning. More details on the Kingston Little League page.

Our prizegiving nights were held for the junior and senior youth teams in early June. See the pix of Presentation Evening.

Annual General Meeting of Kew Association Football Club

The Annual General meeting took place on Tuesday 13 December.

The accounts were presented which showed a shortfall in subscriptions by the adult teams last season, which had to be covered by fundraising activities. Special mention here of the efforts of John Kane.

Tribute was paid to Andy Gates, who after many years as youth secretary and then club secretary, has stepped down from the committee. He will continue to work with developing the junior youth teams. Andy played a major role in expanding the youth section this season from seven to 11 teams, in spite of the loss of the three U18 teams who finished youth football last season.

A new streamlined committee was elected with fewer members than last season, but it intends to set up a number of sub-committees to involve other club members in areas of their interest.  For a list of the new committee, go to Contacts

Stuart Whitwell, Chairman Kew AFC

Kew Association Football Club has been playing football for over one hundred years. It is a Chartered Standard Club. Our adult section has five teams playing in the Southern Amateur League plus Sunday side in a Guildford league and a Veterans squad. We have 11 youth teams ranging from Under 8s to Under 18s.

Kew Claim Cup

Kewcupwinners

Our U18 Youth side have won the Surrey Youth League Challenge Cup. Played on Wednesday 20th April at Molesey FC, the Kew side came back from 1-0 down at half time to win 2-1. Kew’s goals came from a well rehearsed free kick, scored by Dylan Merchant and a thunderous penalty by Man-of-the-Match Jack Evans after eight minutes of injury time.
A well-deserved trophy for the team and manager Andy Gates.
